In the 50th Minute

Everyday I will be putting up a still from the 50th minute of a film that I think is fantastic and should be seen anyone who loves film, suspense, and a great character driven plot. I will then write a little blurb about the film.

Why the 50th minute? Well that’s a good question. Central Station are currently running an online opportunity 50×50

I am hoping to get the trailer for Here’s Our Future In Front Of Us (now on vimeo as well as youtube) onto the 50×50 – if I do I will put the film up in full for free as a Christmas treat for all to see.

If you like the trailer please tell you friends, if you are an artist/designer have a look at Central Station, and if you’re not interested in any of that and just want to see stills from films fair enough – and feel free to send suggestions to be featured in the comments, or tweet @JessMcFilm Handle: #HOFIFOU50x50

Facebook page and campaigning

Dear all,

Here’s Our Future In Front Of Us now has a Facebook page primarily to build a little hype and try and get it noticed by the organisers of the Glasgow Film Festival. It would be great to get it shown on home turf, and such a lovely festival!

Please register your support for the film by visiting the page and liking it.

For those directed here from Facebook – why not mention it on Twitter – the handle for the film is #HOFIFOU

Cheers!!

The Waiting Game!

At the moment it is a bit of a waiting game while we wait to find out if HOFIFOU will win, get nominated, or be accepted into the festivals we have submitted it into…

However we had a newsworthy e-mail here at HOFIFOU HQ yesterday to say that the short got through the first round of judging for the Aesthetica Short Film Festival – for which just a third of the submissions were chosen. We will keep you posted on our progress for that and we will let you know if we hear from any other festivals as soon as they contact us.

To hear any HOFIOU news as soon as it happens, why not subscribe to this blog?

Bye for now…

Two more awards!

At the first WriteCameraAction! screening HOFIFOU picked up two awards, one for the Best Production over 10mins, and Annie was awarded Best Actress for her performance as Sally. It was a mad watching the film there where a small photographic cameo from John McShane (who co-runs Scottish Screenwriters with Jerry Brannigan), who is known to most of the attendees, caused the Romantic Sci-fi Drama to take a strange comedic swerve.

I was very chuffed the film was so well received, and that the night was such a success. I am looking forward to attending it again next year.

I’ll be back on here soon, again, until then…

WCA Screening and prize-giving

This Friday HOFIFOU will be seen by people at the WriteCameraAction! screening where it was originally workshopped. This is the first forming screening of this kind, where anyone who attends WCA and has workshopped pieces that have then gone into production can show their work to the others, get feedback, and get some recognition in the form of prizes.

I will keep you all updated as to how Here’s Our Future In Front Of Us is recieved, and for those of you interested in the production of Scottish short films and low budget features for that matter, I will give you a brief insight into what else is shown.

Until then…

A comment from #AdamBuxton on #HOFIFOU whoop whoop!

In an attempt to get some hype for the film I e-mailed the Adam and Joe show on 6music, and while I didn’t get a mention it was watched by THE MAN himself Mr Adam Buxton, and he made a comment on the youtube page – the first comment in fact, and I’m dead chuffed.

Anyone else who wants to trend the film, and spread the word, or who has any suggestions for getting it out there please let me know. Obviously, it’s still not available to view in full online as it’s up for a number of competitions and festivals but the trailer can be viewed on youtube or imdb.

The official trailer is here!

I have made a short trailer for the film, which is now on youtube and should soon be featured on the IMDB page too.

This film cost less than £150 to make, and most of that was spent on catering and taxis for cast and crew due to the late wraps, as we had to shoot at night. This production was made because a lot of talented people gave up their time and expertise for free. I would love to boost the careers of these very talented young actors, and I would love to make more films in the future with financial backing so if you like the trailer, and if you are impressed with what we achieved on such a microbudget please share the link, and help us build up the hype.

Cheers!

I don’t know if I can do anything in return but if it starts to get some genuinely exciting recognition and you think you are the cause of that let me know, there will be some eccentric homemade baking in it for you :)

Wait for the punchline

I am busy working out what other festivals and competitions to put the film in for. I have summarised the film now as a written synopsis or out loud more times than I have even seen it. Every time I tell people what it’s about I feel like I’m delivering a joke where the set up sounds bad, but that makes the pay off all the more worth it with the punchline. Even though I know they’ll hear me out, I see people cringe slightly inside when I begin, “It’s about two young people who are very much in love, and want to know if they spend the rest of their lives together”, and then I tell them it gets darker and sci-fi is involved and their ears prick up and questions begin, that I refuse to answer, yeah, that’s make it all worthwhile.

IMDB unveils a little more at a time

After viewing the new IMDB page yesterday, which was literally the title and nothing more I have found that little by little information is appearing on the page, so keep checking it and following its progress. Cheers!

IMDB

It’s been a wee while, but I’ve sent things off, and there was not that much to write about with me just twiddling my thumbs. However, today an IMDB page has been automatically generated for the film, but it’s rather lacking in information. I thought it would all be taken from Withoutabox, clearly I was wrong. It may take a little while for anything particularly interesting to actually appear on the page, but I’m working on it, so check its progress at:
